Oh John, no contest here.. the Buick in a heartbeat ! That's one beautiful automotive design that I'd be glad to wash and polish every weekend.

No Contest, BUICK. My favorite year Buick. Just don't care for the DeSoto styling.
I love each of these gorgeous 1960 automobiles and it would be a treat to have either or both of these in scale and/or real form. As a small kid, I had a 1/25 promo of the '60 DeSoto and I also got to get up on the display turntable with my Mom and older sister just before the start of the Chicago Auto Show with the 1960 DeSoto and a prop dog ! (at least I think it was a stuffed prop, lol !)

Both are REALLY nice. But the Buick is spectacularly WONDERFUL!

Great photo, Mike.
Another tight one for me. I'll go with the Buick today, but the DeSoto calls to me as well.

Buick for me too.
Retired in Dunedin, Florida.
Chrysler and DeSoto were appealing to me during this period. My future father in law and my girlfriend drove both until the mid 1960s and I appreciated the ride and style. Buick is attractive but DeSoto for me.
Steve nailed it for me. Pops had a '60 when I was a kid. What a cool car that was. Although it was a 4 door flat top. That's what made it cool. To me anyway. I love those old flat tops. I had the WCPD '59 Impala flat top on pre-order. Sad that Brian couldn't make it happen. RIP Brian.
While the 60 DeSoto and Chrysler were my favorite wing cars, the Buick wins this comparison. Love the styling and the dashboard was out of this world.
The classy, sculptured lines of the Buick give it an elegance that the DeSoto can't match. IMHO Buick made the perfect transition from '59 to '61 with this design.

Interesting what you say about the '60 Buick dashboard being "out of this world". I don't have the same excitement for it you do. I loved the '59 Buick dashboard and couldn't believe it was ruined by that "mirror" type on the '60. This said, I positively love both the '59 and '60 Buicks. Both are favorite GM's for those years.

The '60 versions of both are very nice, but the Buick overshadows the overdone DeSoto. Now had your comparison been the Buick vs. the '60 Chrysler, I'd have a harder time deciding. Of the Big Three cars for 1960, my favorite GM is the Buick, for FoMoCo the Mercury, and for Chrysler Corp. the Chrysler. Three of the most beautifully styled cars of the sixties.
