I really like the '61. I'm not a fan of the '60 at all. I VOTED FOR THE '59!
I had to, as that same Impala was my very first car in 1968. With the exception of mine being white instead of red, that's my car. I felt like Batman driving that baby. I truly felt it had "Bat-Wings" in the back! And when I'd open it up to 70 or 80 miles per hour in the back road hills of my city (Cottage Grove, MN at the time), I could feel that rear-end lifting in the air the faster I went. Seriously, it felt like I was going to take flight!
I love them all but to my eye the 61 styling is trimmer, crisper and easily the most beautiful. It is very close between the other two but the tail end of the 60 with its triple lights beats the cat's eyes. I would be proud to own any one of them.
Had 2 friends that owned '61 Impala convertibles, a black with 348 cu in, 350 hp and the other a blue one with a 283 I believe. With many rides in both I am prejudiced fo the '61. Like the '61 styling; while the '60 styling is mundane but alright; the '59 styling is just too much for my taste.
I'm with Bob Jackman on this one 61 to me is the most beautiful of the three and then the 59 and the 60 in last place.
My dad bought a brand new 59 in white with that bluish color interior I absolutely love that Impala that was one of my favorite all-time cars he ever had until he bought our vintage burgundy 63 country squire.
