There's nothing I can say that you don't already know....   "Norm" will be missed.

Nooooorm!  Poor Vera will be devastated.

Seriously though, George Wendt was a great actor.  The bar stool banter between Norm and Cliff Clavin was the best!

Saw it on the news last night. Great comedic actor but a fine dramatic actor as well. A favorite role of ours was Wendt as a murderer on Columbo. R.I.P. George.

** He died in his sleep at his home in Los Angeles on May 20, 2025, 32 years to the day the Cheers finale aired.

"He died in his sleep at his home in Los Angeles on May 20, 2025, 32 years to the day the Cheers finale aired."

- I first saw George in an episode of M*A*S*H  in which he played a Marine who managed to get a pool ball stuck in his mouth.  I remember that Columbo  episode too - as I recall, George was part of the mob or had mob ties.   🤔

- "32 years to the day" .... interesting statistic.  That finale has since become noteworthy for the live Tonight Show  remote broadcast of the Cheers  after-party in a Boston bar in which most of the cast was hammered or close to it.    Poor Jay Leno tried to maintain control, but ..... it was like herding cats!

...kind of like what John K. does when WE  go a stray.    😏 😏 😏

Good memory Chris, the mob was involved but he was not part of it. The episode was called "Strange Bedfellows". George's character owned a race horse ranch. His younger brother owed the mob money and George set up his brother and a mobster and killed both. Columbo arranged, with the help of the main mob boss, to set up Wendt's character and was able to get enough info to prosecute him and put him behind bars.

@perrone1 Yep, that's right.....  Columbo, with the help of the mob, "scared"  George into an omission of guilt.    Thanks Tony.
