Curious as to the red attachment on this Duesenbergs windshield is some kind of mini sun shield? Frankly can’t think of another purpose

anyone have an answer?

I would hazard a guess that it's a wind deflector to keep people's hair from getting mussed up when the convertible top is down. But maybe some of our Duesie specialists will correct me on that.

Well that’s a thought!🤔 seeing as it’s awfully narrow to be much help as a sun visor!

Well, here's my 2 cents:

- I can tell you from over 40 years of convertible experience, anything to prevent one's hair from being messed up will work MUCH better if it's placed BEHIND the driver. I fail to see how that thin, red, horizontal strip could offer any added wind protection.

- Being so thin and considering the location, I can't imagine it offering any shade from sunlight either.

- When you consider the worth of that car and knowing that many (very) high-dollar  convertible owners rarely put the top down, my guess is that piece is there to protect the front rolled edge of that convertible top.

- When you open your sunroof, ever notice that wind-deflecting netting  that raises up?   Ever look closely at the all the debris it collects?  Now imagine all that hitting the front edge of your Duesenberg top!  😬 😬 😬

Hey there! That red attachment you mentioned on the Duesenberg's windshield definitely sounds like it could be a mini sun shield or sun shade. These are pretty cool little gadgets that are designed to help block out the sun's glare and keep the interior of the vehicle cooler. I've seen them in a variety of shapes and sizes, and they can be super helpful, especially during those hot summer months. Some of them are pretty fancy too, with cool designs or branding, so it might be a great accessory to personalize your car! On a side note, I got some window sunshades for my own car from https://snapshades.com/ . They've been a game changer for me when I'm on road trips or stuck in traffic on sunny days. If this isn't the same thing you're talking about, I'd love to know what it is!

To me it looks the same as the Hudson window frame:

Here is a Hudson with the shade.
