I am not a fan of McDonalds but I am a fan of free enterprise.
I'll bet I haven't eaten more than 2-3 McDonald's in my lifetime! Yet when I was on the road, prior to retirement, I sure welcomed their restrooms!
Never cared for the fast food restaurants, even as a teenager. Like Tony said, their restrooms were handy and usually clean, buy a soda so as not to feel guilty.
Yes, Bob and Bruce - meant to say the same; for me it usually was a Iced Tea.
Wow, so much McD's bashing! How did they ever stay afloat? LoL 😀 😀 😀
I ate my first McD's burger at 15 and in the 45 years since, I've revisited McD's maybe 15 times? I don't drink coffee, so that was never an attraction either.
I thought my "McD's aversion" was atypical; I see now that I'm not alone, although I do love a "good" hamburger!
In my early '20s I worked near a McDonald's and ate two - 2 - Big Macs EVERY lunchtime and enjoyed every one of them. A few decades later, a friend's Mercedes 230 SE limped into a McDonald's car park and whilst waiting for a tow truck, we ventured in for a burger - got about two yards before turning back due to the smell of Big Mac.

This made me chuckle. The very few McDonalds burgers I had were just fine - I always avoided burgers since I was always weight conscious. And like you, I, too, love a good hamburger. The only burgers we have come to enjoy are made here at the house and usually on the Char-Broil Infrared grille. And, I mentioned here before, our very favorite burger is made with Bison. I season it with cumin, paprika, garlic, salt & pepper and one egg per pound of meat.
We enjoy beef but not for a burger.

Cool story Charles!
@perrone1, love your makeshift rub, Tony. I'm going to try it. Do you use any particular type of paprika?

No problem with McDonalds...on road trips, they are a welcome sight for a rest stop and or a quick cheeseburger, fries and a Coke.

I usually stop in at McDonald's about 4 times per year; their higher end burger offerings are decent enough. For me the prompt is always fast convenience drive-thru service; usually for breakfast when on a road trip. Their coffee has really improved in recent years.
@jack-dodds, McD's coffee is really quite nice. I'm definitely a foodie, but I'll frequent a McDonald's when it's convenient. Their burgers have improved over the last few years.
