We've discussed "Collectible Automobile" magazine previously here on the Forums.  For my money (I subscribe to it), it is the best car mag published.  Period.  I received the current issue (Vol. 42 No. 6 April 2026) today and as with every issue I'm not disappointed.  Glossy paper, card stock glossy cover, always well written articles and stories by the elite of automobile journalists, both color and black & white phots with every story.  Included in this issue are stores on:

1977-1987 Dodge Diplomat

1956-1957 Continental Mark II

1957-1957 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham

1950 Chevrolet Styleline convertible

1965 Chevrolet Corvair

1967-1968 Ford Mustang

Plus a few others too, along with all of the regular features including the "Collectible Comments" that share letters from readers.

AND GUESS WHAT?  I have a letter printed in this issue!  All said, I encourage any of you that doesn't have this incredible magazine in your collection, you're really missing out!

Collectible Automobile Vol. 42 No. 6 April 2026

The magazine has been published since April 1984 with 6 issues published a year.  The current issue is Vol. 42 No. 6 completing its 42nd year.  There are only 91 issues that can be back ordered.  I have every issue!  As I said, the magazine is a "collectible" itself.  NO ADVERTISING in it by the way!  Never has been!

Hmmm, I’d be interested in reading the article on the Dodge Diplomat, kind of an odd subject matter for a “collectible” magazine. Oh, and of course your letter George!  Is this magazine available at news stands or is it subscription only?

The magazine has been published since April 1984

Years ago, I purchased and read numerous copies, cover-to-cover; they were (are ) THAT good.  They're excellent magazines!  The same publishers also released several books and specialty mags - also ALL great.

But I would've bet Collectible Automobile  was out in the early 1980's - I guess I would've lost.  😔 😔

It's cool that your letter is printed in the current issue George; it's nice to be "published."    😀 😀 😀

Yup, you'd have lost the bet on when "Collectible Automobile" began publishing, as it was April 1984.

Regarding your "it's nice to be 'published'" comment, I've never thought about that since I've been published thousands of times over the last 50 years.  I wrote stories/articles/columns for wrestling magazines, local city newspapers, work journals, for dozens of wrestling books, articles for the local county historical society I live near, and written and published 4 wrestling books of my own.  I've literally been writing all my life.  I was a banker by profession, but my joy in life has been writing and broadcasting on radio, TV, and on podcasts.  It's these hobbies that have kept me grounded in our crazy world.

I have all issues since the beginning.

And I have been a member for many years, paying top-of-the-bill prices for each mag to The Netherlands.

And suddenly they stopped sending them.

I got a refund for the money I already paid, but it sure is strange that they cancelled me out. I Dont Know

Now I buy them from a mag-shop.

That is strange.  Do you think maybe it's a postage thing to the Netherlands?  But at least you can get copies from the mag-shop.

I don't have all of them, but I do have every issue since the early 1990s. In fact, they are taking over the condo and I have to do something to give them away. I notice a lot of the early ones I have are not available as back issues, so I've been meaning to contact Collectible Automobile to see if they want them. Any suggestions?

I doubt they'd want them (but what do I know  🙄 🙄)    Just for fun, you should check eBay pricing - perhaps some yield decent money or maybe they're worthless.  Who knows?  🤔 🤔 🤔

@georgeschire Hi George, yes, that could be, but then again I paid considerable money to get it shipped to my address.

Maybe a price-increase during my already running subscription, but then they should have contacted me to discuss it.

Anyway, I am so glad I can buy the mag from a shop.

I always enjoy it very much.

Makes me wonder what my COMPLETE collection of "Collectible Automobile" might be worth.  Not that I'd sell them, but hey, I'm getting older as I type this and someday, a decision will have to be made by family what to do these mags, my car collection, and other hobby memorabilia.  I have to believe that a COMPLETE of the mags could garner a decent price from the right buyer.

@georgeschire I have some really nice books that were not cheap back in the day, but I dare say they're practically worthless today.   Just like my two full sets of encyclopedias - who needs them?       ALL that info and MUCH MORE is free today, mere seconds away.  😏 😏

Who needs my CDs & DVDs?     Not me!  🙄 🙄

So what it comes down to, all MY CAR BOOKS are worthless!  Sadly, I know you're right!  I don't like the world we live in today.  It was better when we didn't have EVERYTHING at the click of a finger on a computer.  I mean that!!!

Not all car books are worthless. I recall a collection of rarities selling for $38K on BAT. Now as to which ones have value...

Oh, and thank you George for your eBay suggestion.
