A year before its demise, the rumors were out there.  From it's beginning in 1928, Plymouth was the Rock for entry level car buyers.  I was sad when I heard that the LAST Plymouth rolled off the assembly line on June 28, 2001.

Oh man that is so the truth.  I've always been bothered that The Big Three have eliminated cars, rather than eliminate models within the brands.  Why did a brand have to have 19 different models?  Instead of just having a Plymouth in the "Good, Better, Best" format, meaning like when they had a Savoy, Belvedeer, and a Fury.  And stop there.

I too was very sad when Plymouth was done away with.  I'm still not convinced it was the right thing to have done.  I feel the same way about Pontiac and Olds.

I'm on that bandwagon with you!  With regard to Oldsmobile, why General Motors eliminated the OLDSEST automaker seemed strange to me.  If for no other reason to keep it around to have bragging rights of it being the oldest.

And I've always felt that both Olds and Pontiac could have had less car in their respective line-ups and been allowed to hang on.  Maybe directing there emphasis on more specialty cars.  And of course I feel the same about Plymouth.
