That is just like the Chevy tow truck I drove as a teenager working at my local Texaco station.
HW61 did this because they wanted tie-ins to all there 1/16 (Ertl ) farm tractors & equipment. But what I never understood was the fact that MOST of their 1/16 farm offerings were "toys," not detailed scale replicas like ALL HW61 1/16's were. I've pirated those wheels for my scratch-built 1/18 semi projects but other than that.....
Like you Galen, I too wish they had ALL been in 1/18 scale. Your wrecker is awesome - as they all were, very cool! 😎 😎

Jack, you went out on calls and hauled back wrecks or repairs while still in high school?
This looks great ! I have Highway 61's 1/16 1940 Ford stake truck and it is beautifully done and a real favorite of mine.
Nice truck...I could see 1/16 scale being an issue.

Correct John, other than DM's 1/16 '29 Cord, '53 Eldo, and '55 Chevy or a few 1/16 AMT plastic models (Fords & Chevys ) there really aren't that many other 1/16 cars out there for these gorgeous HW61 wreckers to tow. 😔 🙁
Yeah, you're right about the DM's and even some of FM's 1/16ths. I have the FM's C-Cab Ford trucks, like the Jack Daniel's and Colt and FoMoCo, etc. And the tie-in you mention, is indeed, welcome with the Ertl farm tractors and trucks in that scale."I could see 1/16 scale being an issue."

Thanks for the reminder...I have the 1/16 DM '53 Caddy Eldo and the '55 Chevy."I could see 1/16 scale being an issue."
