Much of this was filmed in St. Louis where I grew up. in the fifties.
Ronnies Drive In Theater was two miles from our house. Ted Drewes Frozen Custard is still in business today and is located on Route 66 in the city limits of St. Louis. Most of the cruise scenes were taken at Gaslight Square which no longer exist. Great nostalgia for this guy who got my driver's license in 1956 and had a 1950 Mercury coupe. Thanks John.
And the beginning was filmed in Philly - where I grew up. Bandstand, at 46th & Market Sts.
P.S. I wasn't there that day.
I used to watch that every day after school
While, overall, we probably wouldn't want to go back to those days, there were many things that were better then - Car styling, Gas Stations (with attendants), Music and Dancing, to name a few.
I would go back in a heart beat. It was far from perfect but I liked daily life in my community back in the 60s and 70s.
Bob, glad you enjoyed this.
