They put them all in baseball parks. They did stay around a lot longer in pick ups than they did in cars. They were roomy when cars were older and meant for more passengers. Still in the back of most cars but even those are getting bucket/captain seats too. Fun question!

@perrone1 Tony;

Blame the '66-'67 Charger interior designers; it's all their fault!

THAT'S SECOND on the list of THINGS I MISS the most:

#1 - Full size American convertibles!

#2 - Bench seats!

#3 - Spare tires!

#4 - Vent windows!

@chris I like your list. When I was deciding on my last car purchase, the spare tire was one of the first things I checked. If it did not have a spare tire, a place to put one, or run-flat tires; I would not consider the car.

@ed-davis I understand......

LSS: About 13 yrs ago, my wife had a flat on her 10 month old car (we knew we had no spare or run-flats ) she called me, I told her, "Have it towed - I'll meet you there."

When I arrived, a guy about my age, waiting outside was livid!   After overhearing, I had to intervein.

- He too had a flat but no spare and had to have his new car towed - BUT - he DIDN'T KNOW he didn't have a spare; no salesman ever told him.

He was furious!  😬 😬 😬 😬

@chris I suspect many new car buyers do not know their car does not have a spare tire.

My 2024 Nissan Z did not have a spare tire, but did have a place for one. The rear part of the floor pan was from the 370Z, which did come with a spare tire. An extra piece of foam was added to fill the space in the new Z. I found two companies who sell spare tires for a wide range of cars. I ordered a spare tire from one of them. I removed the foam, and spare fit perfectly.

@bob-jackman Sorry Bob.....   you have a great inventory, however, a '63 Thunderbird is NOT full size.    A 1963 Impala, Buick Electra, or Mercury Parklane, etc.... now that's full size.     I would never judge your '63 by today's standards.  😉 😉

@ed-davis Yes, I've had a few cars now in which a "slab"  of styrofoam filled the spare wheel compartment.      "Spare tire kits"  were available ...for a price.  🙄 🙄 🙄     I am shocked, however, that a 2024 Nissan Z has a place for a spare - pretty sweet!

@chris Here is a picture of spare tire in car. The rear of the car is at left of photo. The round thing inside tire is a speaker.
