"By October 1959, Pontiac Studio had exhibited the completed fiberglass model of XP-92, referred to as the "Phantom," on the viewing patio for assessment. The XP-92 had been envisioned as a fresh sports coupe model for Pontiac. However, the program was terminated shortly after the review due to the exorbitant cost associated with developing a specific body style for just one division."

I like the front end but not so much from the rear.
Can't make up my mind about this one. While I agree with Bob Jackman about the rear end of the body, past the rear window, I'm not certain why.
Saved both photos and may poke at them a bit when time and inclination permit. Thanks for this one, John.

Very interesting. Corvette hints in front fenders; upcoming GM A pillar;
60-61 Olds rear bumper characteristics coupled with '68 Chevy tail lights.
An interesting and cool idea car from Pontiac. It reminds me, at least in the aft end, a bit of the Pontiac Strato-Streak Motorama dream car from earlier in the 1950's.
I like the front end but not so much from the rear.
The Goodfellas rejected it. They said there wasn't enough body room in the trunk.
Interesting concept. I actually like the styling details of the whole lower body, front and rear ends and body sides. Not quite so keen on the roof.
But since we're in "What if?" mode, my first thought was that it might look pretty smooth without those front fender bulges. although that might make it too bland to some eyes.
Second thought was that in the front view, the roof looks kind of small and pushed too far back towards the rear (although it is maybe just the photo perspective creating that effect). I pulled it forward, but maybe I overdid it slightly so it looks like a full-size sedan rather than a coupe.
Third thought. GM's panoramic rear window on their "flat roof" full-size cars was quite dramatic, but looks a little exaggerated here and makes the roof structure look a bit flimsy. Reminded me of an old Panhard PL24!
So I beefed up the rear pillars but the result may not be to everyone's taste.
We'll see what tidaly comes up with if he feels like it.
