@david-green, that was one of the drawbacks of the Continental convertibles of the early sixties. They were unibody, but the drop tops exhibited excessive vibration and cowl shake. Ford engineers added lead weights to dampen the vibrations. Still, the lack of rigidity caused long-term problems with the complex top mechanism. I understand that many restorers will strengthen the unibody by adding steel beams.

@jkuvakas The body rigidity issue was probably the reason this car wasn't chosen for the Dukes Of Hazzard stunts.

@jkuvakas LOL....good point.....but at least the Duke boys wouldn't have to slide in via the side window space every time.  Never did understand that...lol.
