I like the modern Mercury followed by the DeSoto.
Retired in Dunedin, Florida.
Tough one for me today! I like both the Mercury and DeSoto a lot, always have.
For the Mercury the main draw are those fabulous taillights (that you can't see in the pic) and for the DeSoto the stand-out feature for me is that beautiful toothy grill.
As for the Pontiac, I like the grill a little better than the previous year.
So I rank them like this: 1) DESOTO 2) MERCURY 3) PONTIAC

The DeSoto has been growing on me. I like it much better than I used to. But not enough to outdo the Mercury, then the Pontiac.

Mercury by the old country mile. Don't care for either of the other two.
DeSoto, Mercury, then Pontiac, but frankly, all were great cars for the times.
Mercury, Desoto, Pontiac for the group. Just like the sleek look of the Mercury the best. But they are all really nice.
Desoto, Merc, Pontiac. The Firedome is cleaner than the Monterey with a more conservative grille. For 54, the Star Chief is yet to come into its own, so DeSoto for me and a rousing 'Thank You' John - excellent exercise in today's "Which?"
Mercury styling looks sleeker and more modern even though it uses the '52 body. DeSoto is a strong second with its aggressive nose. Pontiac is nice but looking dated.....wait until '55!
Easy win for Mercury for me. So much more modern looking than the other two!

This is a tough one for sure, I am incredibly fond of the '54 DeSoto, but the Mercury is right up there as well. Even the Pontiac is pretty nice, so tough choice. After pondering on it for a bit, the DeSoto has a slight edge, so DeSoto. In 1/2 hr, it could change, so I won't look again.

Tough call...DeSoto, Pontiac, Mercury by the smallest of margins.
