I feel the rear flanks and roofline work. The bonnet seems to be the right shape but detailing needs to go back to the drawing board.

Not for me.  Maybe they were trying to capture some of that Superbird look.

When the grille goes away so does my interest.  Not for me.

Because of the frontend it's a pass for me.

It is interesting but there seems a bit of a mismatch their and I think the design they did come up with was the best.

I think the "Avanti" style grille is a distraction.  No thanks, I'd pass.

It looks to me like a desperate move to keep the nameplate alive. By then, sales had fallen though the basement.

Couldn't resist trying a small modification to the slightly awkward front wing (fender) line and reducing the headlamp openings a little.

Don't think it really helps much, though. Just me having an idle "what if?" moment.

@graeme-ogg  Your small change does in fact make it easier to look at Graeme but when a person knows how attractive the actual car's nose was it just can't compare I'm afraid.

They did have some other ideas. Whatever you think of these alternatives, I think the one shown at the head of this post is probably the most bland and the least attractive.
