That's clever. But actually, I guess it would be logical for the person who asks the other to go out to the restaurant, to be the one to pay. Chivalry dictates that men should pay for the female but that was a plan hatched by the females.

Personally, I like to be the one who pays because women are notorious for underpaying a tip. We do a date restaurant visit each and every week; sometimes more often but we enjoy the places we go, the people who frequent where we like to eat and for the music and camaraderie.

@perrone1 We too go out to eat every Saturday evening with a group of friends. We take turns picking the restaurant along with the food choices, laughing and having fun is a must.

@sizedoesmatter Me too John. I suspect we are old school but that's okay.

@perrone1 '...women are notorious for underpaying a tip...'  Another good reason to date young ladies that know what it means to get a decent tip for good service.  My ex-wife and I met in the club business and she knew the value of tipping well.  I also spent most of my life in the kind of groups where a woman could invite a man for dinner and the invitee is a guest, in that case, and that is exactly how they felt about it, too.

Likewise. I've always paid for dinner on dates. Tips, I base on service. The better the service, the better the tip. It's not just automatic though. We've had some awful servers at times, thankfully that's been few and far between. They received nothing. Rude and lousy service doesn't cut it with me. And I won't reward anyone for that.😡

@geno, I'm with you on that. Tips are supposed to be a recognition of good service. But things are getting out of hand. I walked into a Panera this morning, ordered my coffee at a kiosk, had to go fetch my cup, then fill it myself. Before the order was completed, the screen asked me how much I wanted to tip, not if I wanted to tip, but how much.  I know the manager pretty well. I went over and asked him whom I would be tipping as I ordered and served myself. He smiled and said, "I hear that a lot."
