Well done I would say.  He probably has saved her a couple hundred bucks on her mechanic bill.  I would also recommend she buy a cell phone to save the long walk.

I would've written the following letter:

Dear Sheila,

There are two major reasons you are car may have stalled after only 10 years of operation:

1) You stopper taking proper maintenance of your Stang more than six months ago. Did you lubricate all mechanical parts, and did you check the crankshaft regularly. You cannot expect your husband to take care of everything. Repairs and complicated, costly and not always work. If you want to get rid of it quickly, see below.

2) if you took proper care, perhaps you have a lemon and you have to immediately get rid of it. Since your husband is so upset, call your neighbor, he will give you a helping hand.
