I've been searching for my own 'little' island. I had it narrowed down to these:

But I realized how much I'd miss the John Deere and the grand times I enjoy aboard the little popper mowing all day. So I bought THIS one. I move in tomorrow:

@georgeschire  A very successful man once told me this and I never forgot it: 'You will learn more from your mistakes than you will from your successes.'  We make mistakes, sometimes we make bad choices, and all of these moments are educational opportunities.  I haven't always had a close relationship with common sense, but my 'education' has been thorough and I like where I am, today.  Some of us have to grow into ourselves and it can take time.

@gdh

I think the point I originally attempted to make has been overlooked.  But that's okay, I still stand by it.

I run in to people every day that just do dumb things that reveal little or no common sense, because if they had common sense they wouldn't do what they did or are doing.

And their whole life long journey is this way.  They stumble through life not being able to figure out that they are the problem.  These are the people that are in their 30's, 40's, and so on, that just don't get it.  They just never grow up.

@perrone1 Tony be sure to have the brakes on your John Deere checked before your move.

Just put on brand new brakes and a parachute - just in case!

Knoxville Airport (McGhee Tyson) is actually located here in Alcoa/Maryville, TN. It is home to Cirrus Aircraft where they build small planes and Personal Jet Aircraft. They pioneered parachute technology for small planes in trouble. I had them retro-fit a cargo chute to the John Deere just in case my lawn mowing antics get too crazy on the island. (When I mow, I listen to Journey and drink martini's. I think I'll really USE that chute!)

@georgeschire   I just wanted to share that some have a different take on whether or not a person can develop common sense, which I believe one can, if one learns from his/her mistakes along the way.  Some have the security and help from parents to help guide them through the rough spots.  Some of us didn't have that safety net from our early teens onward and had to sort the wheat from the chaff on our own, not always with a great deal of success.  As the saying goes, 'Ignorance can be cured by further education, whereas stupid is a lifelong affliction.'  I was 'ignorant,' when I was fifteen, but I am definitely not 'stupid' at my advanced age, so something worked along the way.

My comment and opinion wasn't meant to be considered fact, nor a debate.  I only offer that I know too many people (some in my family too) that continually do stupid things and make dumb decisions regardless of having negative outcomes to doing things throughout their lives.  They may not do the same stupid or dumb thing over again, but they continue to do stupid and dumb things over and over again.  Anyway, I'm okay with letting this horse be dead.
