I just bought our oldest daughter one. I'm just curious !

I’ve been thinking about it. I need to replace my F150 and there is a new electric version coming soon. I would probably lease it 1st to see how it goes. Easier to get rid of if I don’t like it.

Just like the man nearby who has solar-panels on the roof of his garage to charge his Teslas.....
Never! I don't think they are environmentally friendly at all, they have just changed where the pollution comes from - from the tailpipe to the electricity-producing power plants
We have been driving a hybrid for three years and are very happy with it, especially around town. If the range on the electrics was greater, I would seriously consider one.
But for now, I'll just have to drive around in my Rami #19 from the mid- 1960's:
Here's a convertible for back seat drivers:
I am suggesting that there was a short period of time when the electrics seemed to be the dependable cars of the future.

Maybe that future is coming?
Lol, NO !
Not living in a rural state like I do.

I think this is a very wise approach John. Personally, all I would do at this relatively early point in electric car evolution is lease a hybrid for 3 years.
I would. With the ever-increasing range, a lot of them now have a 300+ mile range, they're becoming more practical.

@sizedoesmatter, I see what you did there..."currently" both are limited...limited current...never mind.

A friend has the Tesla S. I love driving it but it is basically a local car as the range is far too short. Also, it is half again the price of an Audi A6 with no better luxury.
Also, not sure about the implications for the electric power grid or future battery disposal. Still, things may improve and certainly, governments are pushing electric cars right now. Presently, I'm sticking to gasoline power, not even hybrids.
Recently returned from a 3,853 mile trip in our 2014 Lexus ES350. Of the 3,853 miles, 2,882 miles was highway miles and 971 was city driving. Average for the entire trip was 30.2 miles per gallon. About 10 minutes each time I filled the tank. Better than searching for a place to charge an electric and then waiting for a full charge before getting back on the road. I'm a happy camper with that mileage. No interest in an electric.

How do you figure, John? A lease obligates you to make all payments for the entire term. Even if you want to turn the car in early, you're on the hook for the remaining monthly payments.

I meant that if I don’t like it, at the end of lease- it’s gone. No hassles trying to sell after a few years. I wouldn’t take it for longer than a 2yr lease.
