About year ago, while working on my 1/18 1956 Ford C.O.E. car hauler project, I came across this picture of a 1957 Ford C.O.E. car hauler and thought it would make a nice 1/64 project.

M2 makes this Ford cab but their silver 1/64 4-car hauler trailer is grossly over-scaled (although it served as inspiration for my first 1/18 car hauler project )....so I figured I'd have at the very least, an "in-scale"  1/64 vintage hauler.

PART 1:

I started with a rough cardboard mock-up, then a pencil drawing on scale-thick plastic. Next, I cut that out, traced it to a second sheet then began initial assembly.  Note: The Chevy hauler's trailer is some-what similar to the Ford trailer I'm replicating.    Stay tuned.....

PART 2:

Pretty straight forward, just finishing up all the major fabricating.... next, I'll begin all the "little"  details & trim. There's only about 500 things left to do.   🙄 😯 🙄 😮   Stay tuned....

Chris, with your attention to detail there's more like 5001 more details to do instead of just 500 !

👍🤣 Gotta love you

I hate to admit it but.... you're right!   Because of the "thin-ness"  of this plastic, I had to make a few compromises.  If I wasn't so lazy, I would've crafted all of this from sheet brass, yet.... I more I look, the more I see (that needs to be done ).  🙄 😮 😌

HA! I'm tired of see "it!"  As I theorized, I am literally doing the exact same work as I did on my 1/18 hauler projects, only of course, in this (way ) smaller scale. I wouldn't say I'm obsessed with vintage car haulers, but I sure like having them.... despite being tired  of making them.   😧 😲

I love your car carrier projects Chris and think my appreciation for them as models goes back to the Matchbox and Dinky Toys Bedford car carriers of my childhood.

That makes sense.  I had many toys, but the only hauler I can recall (I think I have a picture of it ) is a Tonka hauler that had four plastic cars.  I'm 90% certain that the same Tonka hauler served as the metal base on both of my 1/18 projects.   I'll have to look through some old photos.  🤔 🤔 🤔

Thanks for the compliment Jack.
