...well, I did NOT want to begin a LONG multi-part "how to" again; I was hoping to post EVERYTHING at once. However, I already have a TON of pics - so, to keep things organized I really do need to start sharing (otherwise I'll GET confused 😮).
I'm opening up everything on this 1/18 Signature 1948 Ford Deluxe Woody Wagon that's sealed and making it functional with scale hinges; I'll then add a bit more detail and repaint a few things that are currently "too colorful."
Hopefully PART 2 will also be the LAST part.
Love watching your work Chris.
Chris, for a few "$its and giggles" think about adding some wipers to the back glass...

@100ford2003 ...I've haven't yet seen a '48 Woody with rear wipers. I owned 1:1 1954 Lincolns, however, and that WAS an option. 😯
I admire your talent and patience Chris; your project is extremely interesting.
@jack-dodds ...glad you like it. "Interesting?" Auh, no. "PITA?" Auh, yes. 🤨
I am hugely impressed by the woodworking and the extremely neat fit and gaps on the opening parts. I would hate to try and fit all those little hinges and get them to work accurately. Great stuff.
I'd have to say that for me the least attractive part of the whole thing is the body colour (although it does vary between photos) but that's just a matter of personal taste and presumably it is authentic.

AUG! Don't get me started Graeme! 😫 😫
- As I noted, I've had this model forever and ALL other Yat-Ming 1/18 1946-'48 Fords (which I also have ) appear to be painted in accurate period-correct colors; therefore, I had no reason to suspect any deviations here.
- As I got going on this project, I researched this particular color for accuracy. NON-PERIOD CORRECT COLORS ON MODELS MAKES A MANIAC OUT OF ME! Only two sites listed this color as an option on '48 Ford Woody Wagons (which had different colors options than the rest of the Ford line ).
- But "two sites" is NOT confirmation enough for me. So, early on, I had to decide to buy another model in burgundy or white or continue forward.... I chose the latter (because I'm lazy and I did get two matches, zero would've prompted action ).
- The good news is that should I ever decide to repaint it (I'd prefer Ford's 1948 dark green ) it wouldn't take much effort - just a front clip and rear fenders. So YEAH, I'm not too crazy about the color either..... 😔 😔
- Thanks, however, for the compliments on all the "tight panel gaps." I tried to ensure that EVERY tolerance remain CLOSE! 😀
A small suggestion re the colour.
Only trying to be helpful. Just passing the time while waiting for my daily medication to be served.
