These old Johan kits are great but in future I'll only buy sealed kits, a couple of other recent buys have problems. This one has a few light scratches on the windscreen and flaws in the body plastic. Love old Cadillacs I have nearly 30 1/24, 1/25s covering the years 1910, FMs Model 30,  to 2008 and West Coast Precision Diecast Cadillac Sixteen.

Yep, these were (are ) great kits despite the simplified chassis detail - which of course was because these were originally sealed promos.    As a kid, I had a white '64 CDV promo that I cherished.   Glad you could add this one to your fleet of scale Cadillacs!  😎 😎 😎

A great-looking model of this very impressive Cadillac. It is wonderful this replica is available in this form and just a bit of skill and patience results in such a fine result. I wish I still had all my 1/25 promo automobile models from when I was a kid. I have a couple, but it is just a small part of my previous fleet.

thanks gents really appreciate your supportive comments. I'm looking forward to add more of these old 1/25 Johan kits, just need to proceed with real caution.

I made many 1/25 scale JoHan and AMT kits in late 1950s and early 1960s. I considered them nice kits for the time. I built some stock and customized others.

thanks Ed. If you still have them, and feel inclined to do so, would love to see pics of your models.

Great work! While their kits are light in detail, I think the JoHan engraving makes up for it.

Something on this kit, somewhere in the re-issue process, JoHan used the 1968 De Ville convertible front seats in the '64 kits (with the '68's biscuit & button seat pattern). Sometimes original seats (with the "diamond" pattern that match the back seat) show up on eBay. Here's a photo of my set. Also, broken or damaged promos are a good source of correctly patterned seats. Here's a coupe interior (with bench front seat) that I picked up. It had a broken steering wheel. It was easily repaired with Tamiya Extra Thin Cement. I'm not sure if this was painted Blue by JoHan or a previous owner.

@john-sharisky   Interesting observation John.  I always knew something was "off"  but never made those connections - despite once having that 1968 Cadillac de Ville convertible kit.    When I got out of 1/25 model building (and moved on to 27 other hobbies ) my Jo-Han '68 Cadillac was among the first 10 things I sold on eBay  over 25 years ago.

I kind of regret it now, as I had fabricated a very nice AND in scale white "up-top"  for the model; it looked very good.       Who knows where it is now?    🙄 🙄

Again, thanks for the info AND pics.   Very cool!  😎 😎 😎

@john-sharisky thanks John, interesting info.

Every few days now I find myself keying in Johan 1/25 in ebay model kits in the U.S. and local Australian ebay.
