Before PBS took over our local Newark, New Jersey based Channel 13, it aired mostly old 1930's westerns, cartoons( many now longer shown due to certain racist elements), and matinee serials like Buck Rogers, Flash Gordon, Dick Tracey and the like. As a kid, I found those Sci-Fi serials fascinating. The battles between Flash Gordon and the evil Emperor Ming the Merciless from the planet Mongol played by one of my favorite B movie character actors, Charles Middleton. These were vinyl kit builds that required the various body parts to be filled with plaster to prevent slumping as well a special exterior prep for the paint to adhere to the vinyl. Beneath the feet of the standing figures are their respective space craft that were resin kits.
Very nice ! I always watched Flash Gordon serials on the television on Sunday mornings. Very cool viewing with rocket ships and very pretty girls .......like Jean Rodgers/Dale Arden.
Then there was Saturday nights...late....watching Flash Gordon's "brother's" movies. Lots of pretty girls in those too and the level of pure talent was.....well.....I'll leave it at that.
I too watched those series on Saturdays and after mass on Sundays while reading the comics. We’d stop to pick up the Sunday paper at a corner market that had the best donuts. My favorite was the chocolate frosted French Creuller(?) Always liked Abbot & Costello, Laurel & Hardy and Henry Aldrich.
when in H.S. there was a small theater near D’land in Anaheim that showed all the Western series and Flash Gordon on Saturdays. Now that I wasn’t a kid anymore I found them less exciting then I had remembered.

😂 Jack, I wasn’t sure what to make of your comment about FG’s brother. Then I think it hit me…you can’t possibly mean changing a vowel in one of the name’s, could you? Shame on you!!! I think 👺

They all look great Rich. I’m sure you spent many hours getting them painted just right. The skin tones and facial features are unbelievable 👍
