When I got married in 1965, I had a 1963 Corvair Spyder convertible. Ten years ago I restored a 1963 Studebaker Avanti in Avanti Gold with Factory A/C and I still have my 1963 Thunderbird Sports Roadster. I guess I liked cars from that year.
@bob-jackman WOW!!! Good for you, Bob! I loved all 3. These days, I'd love to have that T-Bird Sports Roadster. I fell in love with that car ever since I saw Ed "Kookie" Burns valet deliver it to "77 Sunset Strip".
@rich-sufficool I'd love to own it too. I love the '61 to '63 T-Birds; they got even more attractive each year. 1963 was the high point for this marque for me; IMHO the design went downhill from '64 onward.
The worst wreck I was ever in was in that Falcon Futura. We were car pooling to college via the NJ Garden State Parkway and my buddy went to pass this old couple in a Rambler doing about 40mph in the left lane. As we passed the Rambler decided to move over and hit us. My buddy was a 'panic stopper' who proceeded to slam on the brakes and never took his foot off. We careened spinning to the right and smacked into a 6' guardrail that kept us from going off into a ravine. Still skidding, we now went across 3 lanes getting hit again by the same Rambler which twirled us into was was fortunately a wide grassy medium where we mercifully came to a halt. He managed to flatten all 4 of his new tires. We landed right in front of the NJ State Trooper barracks and I saw the window blinds bent open when they heard the racket. I didn't feel the whip lash until the next morning, but we were spinning so fast my shoulder bent the metal window sill. On the plus side, the Trooper rode us to college in his 413 dual carb '64 Chrysler cop car. Man, that car flattened me in my seat with its acceleration. Back in the day, the specs for a State Trooper car was "100/100" which meant the car needed to be capable of 100mph for 100 miles. The NJ Turnpike Troopers opted for the 345 HP 394 cid "Jet Star" V8 in their Oldsmobile sedans.
BTW, his Falcon was the same color as your model.
What a GREAT blend and representation of the year Chris. Superb collection - thanks for the pics!
Chris, you have a lot of really cool 1963 1:18 scale models. Your post prompted me to see how many '63 vehicles I have. I only have two. Those being the T-bird Sports Roadster and the Chrysler Turbine.
BTW, I'm surprised you haven't swapped out that oversized driver-side mirror on the Corvair. It looks like it belongs on a bus!

Truth be told..... YEARS ago, I disassembled the model, ready to cut open the "frunk" and augment a few other incorrect details (including that 1/10 scale mirror! ). LSS: Sunstar over-engineered the mounting points, so.... my project would've involved considerably more effort than originally assumed.
Being crestfallen, I reassembled everything. 😪 😪
I'm shocked no one yet has chimed in with a 1/18 1963 Corvette.
I think the best one ever done was by GMP-Master's (Masterpiece? ) Edition. It was a 1/18 GMP done at a CMC level! Second best '63 Vette replicas have to be by Autoart, right?
None of youz out there have either? 😧 😳
@chris - A couple of things to note. Nope, I don't have a 1:18 '63 C2 Stingray. I do have the Exoto Standbox Edition, '67 C2 Stingray. As has been discussed before, it isn't the usual Exoto extreme detail. Instead, it's about one hair away from being a vintage Burago in detail and execution. Autoart makes, by far, the best '63 C2 Stingray. They're going for $350 to $400 on eBay. GMP didn't do a '63, it was a '65. Those are going for over $600+ on eBay.
I'm curious if your Riviera is actually a '63. I have that series, too, but it was marketed and sold as a '64. Are you sneaking it in as a '63? 😉
GMP didn't do a '63, it was a '65.

Marty, you're correct on BOTH accounts!
1) I was positive my Riv. was a '63 but, as YOU noted, it's not! It IS a '64 😬
2) I wasn't certain about that GMP, so I Googled - and saw "1963 Corvette," but that ONE pic was incorrect. Several subsequent searches have now confirmed "1965." 🙄
3) Your money will ship tomorrow morning - tracking will be provided. Enjoy your windfall! 🤑
@rich-sufficool Love the story Rich. I assume you probably learned a life long lesson to avoid Ramblers being driven by an "old couple".
You never know what an "old couple" will do. You gotta watch them.@rich-sufficool Love the story Rich. I assume you probably learned a life long lesson to avoid Ramblers being driven by an "old couple".
