This is a very well done diecast replica of the powerful Chevrolet Impala SS from 1996. Two of my brothers had 1994 and 1996 versions of the real car.

I believe my 1/18 model was nicely crafted by Universal Hobbies many years back. The actual car had a strong fuel-injected 350 cid V-8 engine under the hood.

...they also did a decent LAPD Police version.   The rear doors are cast separately on these Impalas, but they don't open.  🤔 🤔 🤔     One day, I must investigate -perhaps I can hinge them somehow....  🤔 🤔 🤔

The Impala SS was resurrected along with the Mercury Marauder. Both were pretty mean looking and well performing sedans.

I really liked the 1994-1996 full-size Impala SS and the later Mercury Marauder and, of course, got to ride in both the '94 and '96 Chevrolet SS vehicles.

It would somehow been nice to get a two door SS or Marauder, but the body style produced wasn't really designed as a two door, although I did, many years ago, photo-shop several colors of a Mercury Marauder convertible,  just to see what it might have looked like.

But there was a 2-door Mercury Marauder convertible; I almost bought it.    I shared the story years ago on this Forum.

LSS: Mercury put their concept up for auction - I was very interested until I learned that a governor limited top speed to 55 (I think ), there was no top, no side windows, it really wasn't "safety street legal,"  and lastly, I would've never been able to insurance it.

Consequently, it sold for an "affordable"  $34,000 as I recall - but not to me.

@chris This generation Marauder sent mixed signals to its division. Sales were slow until they stopped making them. Then the secondary market went crazy. A full fledged, street legal tudor Marauder cv would have been so retro cool to someone like me, harkening back to when high powered full sized cars ruled.

@rich-sufficool Seldom wrong and right again Rich.    👍

When these 4-dr SS Impalas were introduced a friend (a few years younger ) along with thousands of other guys, lost their minds  and bought one - calling it, as he did, their "dream car."    I thought they were all nuts, "Who the hell wants a 4-dr SS?"    😡 😡

He loved his "modern classic."   Marauders didn't seem to garner that same "cult following"  until production ended.   Suddenly, they were at every car show I attended.  😲 😲 😲

@perrone1 I have the Impala model but have always thought the wheels/tires were under sized.

@100ford2003 Right, the Police version doesn't suffer that fate.  😀
