I loved the refinements done to the C-3 over the years esthetically, but the standard 350 cid was pumping out a pitiful 180 HP. For the 25th Anniversary Limited Edition Corvette L-82, you got a special badged black over silver that was reminiscent on the Mako Shark fade paint job and offered a T-Top. The twin snorkled L-82 350 squeezed as much horsepower as the EPA would allow generating 220 HP. 12,739 people happily ordered that package. The only Silver Anniversary Corvette I ever saw was at the 2008 Indy 500 Corvette display and this UT model replicates the car quite well.
I've always liked these mostly for the tu-tone paint and "silver leather!" I knew a guy who bought one new (or a year old 🤔) - I believe that was the first time I heard the expression, "all show, no go."
Great pics of this UT-Model Rich. 😎 😎
I have the UT model in 1/18 and the mint models of the Silver Anniversary and Pace car in 1/24 scale. A friend's father owned a Chevrolet dealership in Ohio and was buying pace cars from other dealers who didn't want them convinced that he would make a killing reselling them. Turns out the demand for these wasn't that great when they were new and he lost quite of money selling most for less than he paid for them.
@bob-jackman Yep. To me, the car is very pretty to look at but I'd prefer the car I'd buy wouldn't be a travelling billboard.
Rich, I believe the Black and Silver Vette in your post is the Pace Car Edition. The Silver Anniversary Edison is painted silver and gray. Here's a pic...
