PICs - Daily Dose of Diecast...Saturday

With the talk of NEO's new '49 Cadillac, which I have just received, no photos yet.
To celebrate it's arrival, here a few photos of a candidate I intend to pair up with the new '49.

1949 Cadillac Series 62 Coupe de Ville Hardtop, FM

Oh, and this one too...

Sorry The NERO will not compare, it is not a precision model, DM & FM were some of the best out there...100.00 for plastic with NO operating features???

The blue Caddy is a long time favorite. Looking forward to your pics with the Neo Caddy.

The NEO Cadillac looks great. The DM and FM days of diecast with moving parts are gone and not coming back so you might as well move on. I hope NEO makes more 1:24 American cars.

You can't say that without seeing it. MUCH nicer than the FM models.

I decided to to do a 180 and give the NEO Caddy a fair chance. I ordered it yesterday.

Reviews of it have been positive, so I'm willing to see how good the car is. When it arrives, I will offer my personal sentiments and whether it's a keeper or not.

Waiting by my front door for delivery. Smile

Looks like the headlights of the NEO Cadillac are ..

.. slightly over-sized, and too flat, I think FM did better job. Curious to see comparison photos of the fronts.
Another thing I don't like is how raised is the hood ornament.

I know people compare NEO pricing with Automodello, so I have to point to this ... Automodello is right on the money when we talk about details and proportions, and the accuracy comes from the Raffi's sharp eye, and Jim's commitment not to cut corners.

Saying all this the NEO model is very welcome at this price, and mine is on the way too.

I knew you would George after editing your comments below! Good decision!

I wasn't going to buy it either but the pictures and reviews here swayed me, too!

Awesome Cadillacs! I didn't know about NEO's. I hope you guys give the model a fair chance. I once collected NEO in 1:43 scale and they are very nice models. Thankfully, my wallet is safe with the '49 Cadillac release as it wouldn't be in my collecting criteria if still collecting.

Well, I can live that minor difference. Love the Club Coupe. Wish I could afford the 1:18, too.

Thanks Barry. I'm thinking positive about how great it will be. But do know that having those windows up still seems strange to me.

I see the 1:18 is "on sale" and 10% off in addition!

I was debating whether to get the 1:18 back in the days ...

... when it was released. Looked awesome in that color. However I didn't like the headlights either, and since I collect mostly 1:24, I passed on it. Now the dilemma is solved for me with the release of the 1:24 scale.
