@jcarnutz @bob-jackman Bob & John it seems these are not so difficult to get in the U.S.; which is good as the more happy souls there are, the better. Â But one never sees Newbank models in Europe. I have their 1938 Hudson business coupe which is a fabulous model, Â but have always wondered why there aren't more of them. I would be interested to know if there are any more models issued.
I think Newbank are rare here in the US as well. Some just happened to "pop up" now.Â
Their production list (small) is in the text but we do not have photos of every one: https://www.hobbydb.com/marketplaces/hobbydb/subjects/newbank-models-company
Charles that Hudson business coupe looks great and not one that I had ever seen before.
Buz Kirkel said the Conquest No. 39 Custom Cruiser convertible was based on the Newbank (both were made by SMTS). Here's mine in Ambassador Red.
So I did not bid on the Newbank Olds. But I did bid, and won, the No. 2 1938 Hudson 8:
Charles - I believe your Olds has the proper folded top boot. I received this extra part with my Hudson, seems to be a duplicate for your top. I wonder what model it belongs to?
Here are some more 1942s:
That last one is the Arzens L'Oeuf (the egg) Electrique from France's dark days of occupation. Then there are these old diecasts, in a somewhat smaller scale:
I only have one car model from 1942, a Conquest DeSoto convertible, which was previously shown in this post and replies. However, I do have a 1/48 scale diecast airplane, which fits the theme. It is a Grumman F4F Wildcat with the markings of the plane Butch O'Hare flew in February 1942, when he won the Medal of Honor. The model was made by Carousel1 about 15 years ago.

@mg-harv Harv, your Conquest does look exactly like the Newbank model, even down to the smooth resin lights that are quite distinctive. As photographed, my model hasn't the front quarter-lights but they did arrive carefully wrapped in the box (clearly they'd come loose). So I think it is exactly the same mould and finish. I sense Mr. Paszkiewicz must have white-glued the down position top in place (I've not wanted to be too rough with it, as yet) but there is a top up piece in the box. However your spare appears to have longer 'branches' than the Oldsmobile's top-down. Are there a set of back seats underneath the chocolate brown top? Â Can this be a top/ tonneau cover giving a convertible coupe or five-passenger convertible option?
@ed-davis Thank-you Ed, for adding this stunning Carousel1 model. Â I've not seen this Grumman before, but these models have appeared on The Zone's pages before, as you'll know, and always look great with these '42 models.Â
Who made the half track?
I am not Harv! 🙄  But I also have all three of those French Dinky Toys! All long obsolete.
