As some of you may be aware, I am currently working with Stamp Models on a 1970 Toronado, due out later this year. Stamp happily agreed to two of my special requests. The first was to develop two wheel options, and the second was to actively gather feedback from collectors during the product development process. So far, the response from collectors about being able to see the progress during the developmental stages has been overwhelmingly positive. Additionally, colors were chosen based on the top-voted selections on the GLM & Stamp Enthusiasts Facebook page. Stamp was curious about the response to product development updates, and may consider doing similar updates on future models. For now, the other three models that we are working on together are being kept under wraps as in the past.
Below is an update that was just posted on Facebook.
Product development update! The final colors have been chosen for the upcoming 1:43 1970 Oldsmobile Toronado from Stamp Models!
You voted, and Stamp listened! The colors are based on the most popular colors chosen in the recent poll.
DISCLAIMER: While these are considered "final" at this time, there is always a slight chance that revisions may be required before final production (which is typical with any type of product development).
Below are the variations that will be available, and all are based on actual factory availability:
Ming Jade
White vinyl top, green interior, deluxe wheel covers.
Exclusive color only available at https://toycargeek.com/
Aegean Aqua
No vinyl top, white interior, base wheels.
Exclusive color only available at https://toycargeek.com/
Regency Rose
Black vinyl top, black interior, deluxe wheel covers.
Cinnamon Bronze
Black vinyl top, black interior, deluxe wheel covers.
Below is also a photo of the prototype seats (paint color is under revision).

Thanks for that positive update, Dave ! This excellent new upcoming Oldsmobile 1970 Toronado replica is obviously going to be great and highly anticipated.

Thanks Mike! I hope so!

I love them just the way they are. BTW, that two-tone version must have been either a regional offering or some special edition, perhaps aftermarket. I've never seen one. The through-the-bumper trumpet exhaust pipes designate a GT model, which would have special badging. They are rare.Â

Thanks, Dave. My Dad had an Oldsmobile Toronado in 1981 and they were a client of his back then. Certainly in their original full-size V-8 forms they were really good-looking and performing cars.
I too have never seen a tu-tone late 1960's / early '70's Toronado; looks kind of funky. 😕Â
I think this entire process, as I noted previously, is just magnificent. THIS is the way to ensure historical accuracy, promote good will and aid in a successful sell through. A win, win, win for all!
I recently noted on Forum 18 about how "Stamp is listening..."Â Â Their 1/18 prototype '78 Eldorado errors (script & tires ) has been corrected in time for final production. NICE!
Why not a '66 ? Jus asking... IMO, the best looking Tornado....
These will be GREAT. Look forward to their release.
@ed-glorius Perhaps. Personally, I don't see the appeal.
@100ford2003 Perhaps because so many diecasts of the '66 have been made, both in years past and in the current DeAgostini American Cars subscription series. Spark also did a resin '66 and a '68. To my knowledge no 1970 has been done, so I applaud Dave Gilbert's effort on this.

Yes, I agree. That was one of the reference photos that Stamp obtained, and I'm sure it is an owner modification.

A '66 would have been fantastic as well, but the '70 doesn't get enough love! Both cars are stunningly gorgeous IMO.

It might have worked without the black vinyl roof. Maybe.
I personally prefer no vinyl top on this design, so that is why I chose to omit it on the Aegean Aqua. Most were produced with vinyl tops, however, so I think that is what a lot of people would expect from a nostalgia standpoint.
