I've had the second Alfa in 1/43 from Brooklin for a few weeks but am just getting around to posting some comparison photos.  When I saw it on their list. I wondered why they would want to produce it.  I assume their customer who ordered these (FCA?) wanted it, as well as the others to come, even if high-quality replaces were already out there.  The Minichamps (in red box) Alfa Romeo TZ2 is out of production but available on worldwide ebay.  When putting them side by side, it is hard to tell who is who! However, the Minichamps is the one with the more pronounced "eye brows", silverplated no less.  When you pick them up, the heft of the white metal Brooklin is obvious compared to the diecast MC.  The 2 racing versions are from the now-defunct Alfa Collection partworks, very inexpensive if you can find them with cheap postage.  They are not bad either.

The TZ2 came out in 1964 after the TZ but only 12 examples were made.  They were lighter weight with fiberglass bodies and an Autodelta-tuned 1.6L engine.

Minichamps might have a slightly crisper headlight surround with the silver trim but that's not noticeable by the human eye, really only in these photos.  Proportions are only slightly different and since I don't own a real one (I wish!!!), I can't tell if the slightly longer roofline of the Brooklin is more accurate.  So I will keep both!

One of the 12 is in the Alfa Romeo Museo but I just have this shot of it!

Excellent comparison and presentation Karl. I'll have to look for those Alfa Collection partworks ones.

Since I have the Minichamps, I have no need for the BRK. I can always put some lead fishing weights inside to give it more heft!

I consider the Alfa Romeo Canguro Bertone, on a Giulia TZ chassis, to be a bridge between the TZ and TZ2.

Nice comparo Karl. I think like Harv, just by now I do not need any Brooklin Alfa although they look very nice models.

  1. TZ - 1963-5, 112 examples
  2. Canguro - 1964 show car based on the TZ, 1 example
  3. TZ2 - 1964-5(?), 12 examples

I have more Canguros in 1/43 than they even built! 😉
