While checking an eBay supplier to see if a new batch of the AMC Rebel "The Machine" had arrived, I saw they had this 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T from the same series, so I ordered one and it came today. (The AMC Rebel is still in transit).
It's a pretty little model with some nice detailing, which includes 2 door mirrors. Unfortunately you will notice there is a driver's side mirror in the first shot but not in the others. That's because during the photo session a gust of wind in the garden flipped the model, I grabbed it, and the driver's mirror disappeared into the undergrowth (my garden consists almost entirely of undergrowth). The chances of finding it are appreciably less than zero. Ah well, it isn't a priceless handbuilt so I'm not unduly distraught, but it's annoying.
The model seems to be a simplified version of an existing Ixo/Premium X casting which had rather more dramatic detailing, and if you have one of those you probably won't want this one (unless the others are too gaudy for your taste).
Here it is alongside an even plainer-looking '70 Challenger, this one in white metal from Zaugg Empire Models. It's tyres are nicely lettered (but ridiculously narrow). Quite classy and expensive handbuilts in their day.
I'm keeping eye on this "American Cars" series as they emerge. Some are just reissues and some look nicer than others. The AMC Javelin "Mark II" looks horrible in orange and gold
The "Mexico" version looks a little more tasteful with the black accent
but since I reckon the Javelin facelift turned one of the prettiest cars around into one of the ugliest, I may give both versions a miss!

Agree about the Javelin; it looks like a $5 model for a child to play with.
Thanks for the great pictures and good comments, Graeme. I'm almost tempted by the Dodge "pink" just because of its outrageous color. No, I think I'll wait for something really wild.  Enjoy!  David H
Greenlight also markets a Dodge Challenger probably from the same master.
That Javelin would have been acceptable if they didn't do the heavy window frames and oversized wipers. The color though seems accurate. I saw a photo of one with that same gold decal.

@jaygolan Yep, this is one I've got from Greenlight and I gave it the Vanishing Point treatment, back when one wasn't available at the time.
Jani, I just saw your Dodge and I like it! But its movie background is not familiar to me, so I looked it up at:

It looks like you've done good work. I'm curious as to just what you did for these fine results.   David H
Oh, just added the plates to it. Greenlight sometimes releases "regular" models of their movie replicas with no identifying details or in different colours, so this was obviously one of those, but one that was easy to customise a bit. The movie itself is a bit of an existentialist psychedelia road movie with a rather ambiguous plot, but if you love seeing some fast driving and stunt-work on a brand-new Challenger, then it's a great one to check out! Not that Chrysler was entirely thrilled when finding out what kind of a movie they ended up loaning their cars to promote them in. 🤣Â
I have the Panther Pink Premium X Challenger and it is excellent. But here is one more, a Challenger SE in Plum Crazy, by Good Smile Racing. Note the smaller rear window on the SE.
