For ‘58, Chevy was all new from the ground up. It is my favorite year for Chevrolet. A Silver Blue entry level Yeoman wagon was for several years our family car. Pictured here are several different Brooklin ‘58’s, an Impala coupe and a coupe by John Roberts, and three different Yeoman wagons, with and without whitewalls, different colors, and a two tone color scheme done by John White.
Though all are black and white, for some reason black and white photos of these models seem to have an added realism. The Yeoman with black tires is parked by my scale model Martha’s Vineyard house and again by a scale model of the home in Lenox, Massachusetts. That picture takes me back to 1958. Though in 1:43, that picture could easily be of the actual scene in our driveway. I wonder what it is about black and white photography that seems to add to the realism.

It is a great looking Chevrolet ! My Dad had a 1958 Bel Air and I had a 1/25 model of the '58 Chevy when I was a kid. Now days I also have a 1/18 diecast from Ertl. 1:1 or in any scale .... really nice cars !

Love the pictures and story David. I owned a 58 Impala hardtop which I bought in 1989 and sold in 1994. For the life of me I can't remember why I sold it but I think it was because I had too many collector cars at the time. Mine was all white with a turquoise/black/silver tri tone interior 348 motor, continental kit, skirts and dual antennas. I have the Brooklin model and several examples by MiniMarque. A year ago at the Chicago show I bought a pair of matching colored hardtop and convertible. 58 is my favorite Impala.
Great pictures all! The '58 Impala looked much more upscale and expensive than one of the "low priced three" had any right to!
