Just added this beauty to my collection. The color is outstanding! It's interesting to note all the little detail differences between it and its American '49 Mercury cousin:
It will fit right in with another "Canadian Mercury", the '55 Meteor Business Coupe:

I have other burgundy/maroon color cars in my collection but this one, with all the metalflake, really "pops"!

I always liked the '55-'56 Meteors but never understood why FOMOCO created that line beginning in 1949 or so as I recall. The Ford dealers obviously had Fords to sell and the Mercury dealers had the Mercs; which back in the day seems about the right balance to placate the respective dealers. Interesting.....
The 1957 Monarch in a magnificent blue was the first Brooklin I ever saw. The shop in Toronto wanted $400 in the 1990s! Mine was considerably less.
The 1951 CTCS taxi took a while to get, but it's one of my favorites.
I also have the Monarch and a few others, but the crude 1960 Monarch convertible put me off.
Retired in Dunedin, Florida.
@ed-glorius That is a stunning shade of blue on the '57! I'd never seen that model before. I'll have to be on the lookout for a reasonably priced one.

I always liked Brooklin's modelchoice way back then....
The had the nerve to produce models no one ever heard of.....
Just like this Monarch, that I also have in my collection.
Another early 50s Mercury Monarch, a 1951 by Durham Classics, a Canadian white metal model maker. Seems to be much like the US Mercury save the grill.

And for comparison, the 1951 Mercury Monterey from Franklin Mint. Interestingly labeled as made in Hong Kong and even displays its flat head V8 of 255 CID and 112 horsepower.
