A little side trip from the Cadillac series I started a couple days ago. A quick look at a couple of Lasalle models in my collection. In many cases during its run, I like the style of the LaSalle over the Cadillac.

Nice ones ! Great views of these exceptionally stylish LsSalle replicas.

I had heard a story many years ago that the Buick Riviera had initially been viewed as a possible LaSalle from Cadillac automobile but the idea was nixed by higher-ups at GM.

@mikedetorrice The original idea was a LaSalle Revival because of the twin grilles of the concept car. I will post pictures from the concept later for those interested in automotive history.

There is also a 1937 Coupe done by Neo. I never got it because it is not accurate. I am sure the OP has one to share.

The '63 Riviera was first made available to Cadillac who turned it down. They worried that it was too small and might dilute the Cadillac image. Buick scooped it up and the rest is history. Here's a pic of a near-final proposal for the LaSalle II, a concept they called the XP 715.

Yes, I also read that when Cadillac turned it down, it was offered to all the other GM divisions and Buick (badly in need of a "halo" car) got it because the others wanted to make various tweaks to suit their brand image, but Buick said that apart from badging they would stick faithfully with the design as it was presented to them - for which we are all eternally grateful.
