Brooklin put whitewalls on their '61 Ford Fairlane sedan. I saw one for sale by our friend Dave (Toycargeek) with blackwall tires, and I think it looks much better that way! And probably the way most economy minded, bottom-trim buyers would have wanted it. So I turned mine to the dark side!

 What do you think?

Nice but I generally prefer black walls on most vehicles.

I thought the very same thing when I saw the one with black walls. Now I'm inspired to maybe flip them on mine as well. Great idea.

Yes indeed, this '61 looks much better for two reasons:

- Of course you're correct Barry - it's fair to assume most "bread & butter sedans"  left the factory with blackwalls.

- Brooklin's whitewalls are (were ) way too wide for 1961 anyway....so either thin them down (using washers, a black Sharpie, and flat black acrylic ) or easier still - eliminate them.

Looks great Barry.  😎 😀

Looking good Barry with the black tires. Certainly more true to form for a bottom of the line base sedan.

Barry, your logic makes perfect sense to me.

Looks much better than the BRK wide whites and more representative of reality for tires usually seen on plain jane sedans.

Yes, blackwalls are more common on the entry level car,  I should change mine on this one but leave the whitewalls on this four door hardtop conversion.

Here is one I turned to the dark side within 5 minutes of its arrival. It's much more appealing with black walls but I'd really like to find some Goodyear white letter ones.

@jmullinax I did the same thing with my blue one, but I like the whitewalls on the yellow one

@moe-parr The whitewalls aren't exactly horrible on either one. I think I remember seeing some 1:1's actually so equipped. I agree with you on the yellow version.

Including in the '69 Plymouth brochure:

I agree with you on the yellow version.

Yes, I think the whitewalls go well with the sunny yellow color and white interior.
