This street scene diorama is still a work in progress and at this stage the pavement pieces need to be glued in place. This close-up of the street scene shows the following Hornby Skaledale buildings:

R9632 Golden Dragon Chinese Takeaway

R8621 Left Hand Mid-Terraced

R8622 Right Hand Mid-Terrace

As a change from the Ferrari 330 P4 this image shows a Matchbox Major Pack M10 Whitlock DD70 Dinkum Rear Dumper whose driver has parked up to get a Chinese Take-away. The model is in 1:71st scale was issued in July 1962 and withdrawn in 1967. It comprises of two components permanently joined together by a long rivet which doubled as an articulation point. The tractor unit included a driver’s seat in the casting and red plastic steering wheel. The rear dumper section included the frame, which was attached to the tractor, and a pivoting dumper body. Early versions, like the one in the photo, featured bright unpainted metal wheel hubs which on later versions were replaced with red plastic wheel hubs.

Lesney’s Major Packs range represented larger road going vehicles that were a similar scale to the cars in their Matchbox 1-75 series. Major Packs were introduced in 1957 and withdrawn in 1967. Some of the later Major Packs issues were merged into the King Size range.

Great shots!   Love that lil Matchbox Jag scene!

@karl Many thanks Karl. The diorama is complete but I fancy putting a few finishing touches like some vegetation and road markings.

Already thinking about other vehicles to place in this setting and perhaps prepare an article for MAR.

A terrific set-up and imaging of this scene, Chris. That Matchbox 1/71 scale replica of the rear dumper is a really interesting vehicle. It looks remarkable to see that engine so far out front.

@mikedetorrice Thanks Mike. Matchbox's legacy is that they produced amazing replicas of vehicles from now long gone manufacturers.

Wonder scenes Chris. I especially appreciate the Jaguar E-Type.

I have a fair number of the Major/King MBox in my collection and love them.
