This 1966 Fairlane has been sitting here for quite a while.  The extension of the rocker molding behind the rear wheel indicates that this is a desirable 500XL model with the standard bucket seat interior.  It was probably pretty cool looking at one time with shiny Candy Apple Red paint wearing those American Racing Torque Thrust wheels. I can't imagine why the owner just left the old car cover laying on the driveway.  He made a big mistake using that silver vinyl tarp to cover the car.  These tarps don't breathe and will trap moisture between it and the car body, causing it to rust.  I've seen this happen and it ain't pretty!  I'll keep an eye on this one.

Very sad. We all know what the outcome will bring. Too bad the owners don't have the foresight to realize nothing good will come of this.

I guess there's that certain line that an owner crosses. He realizes that at that point, it will cost more to restore the car, than it will be worth on the market.

Damn, that saddens me. I love the 66/67 Fairlanes. And it's fate is even sadder.😢 Thanks Pete for doing these.

Thanks Pete. I believe the above comments cover my opinion quite well. I'm sure we have all seen situations like this...too bad.
