Quite so. And now we have to start asking how many millions of trees will have to be cut down every year to make all the paper bags and cardboard boxes to replace the recently-banned plastic bags, food trays, etc.

On a more serious note 🤔 I thought bamboo was the answer.. it's extremely replenishable and is able to be used for a multitude of items.

I loved groceries in paper bags. They had a small semblance of structure - enough to keep them upright in the trunk. Plastic is spineless and spills all my apples, limes, lemons and oranges into spots I have to stretch to reach. And I HATE carrying groceries home in bamboo tubes! Scared

@perrone1 That's quite an environmental quandary you have there Tony; the solution of which leaves me totally bamboozled.

In the scheme of it all, does it really matter if Elephants go extinct?

I LOVE kumquats! No taking chances with those bad boys - I have them shipped straight to the house from the groves!  Laughing Out Loud

It's a quandary alright! With paper, I load them in and move the cargo fence to hold all securely in place. But with the plastic bags, I have to stand at the back of the car and tie knots in the tops of the bags to keep my larder in check!! It's enough to make the devil pee in his leotards I tell ya!!

That's what I need!! I grocery shop for a month's worth of food at a time. I need a bigger elephant with a bigger trunk!!

.... I can honestly say that although I remember paper bags, by the time I, as an adult, began grocery shopping, I never saw them.   As far back as I can remember "my"  grocery bags were plastic.

- Although I'm not sure just how much thinner they can make them; I double or triple up  often!  😫 😫 😣

@georgeschire Re:  Elephant extinction

Well George, if the environmentalist extremists eventually ban cars, various bags and such then I guess we will need elephants to pack our *groceries (in reed baskets) home from the market won't we?  Camels are out as such a means in suburbia as they stink and tend to spit.  I'm sure you have had similar thoughts on this subject...right?
