Both are real life facts. I have a decal on the windshield of my 61 Corvette showing the shift pattern of the manual transmission.
... I've said it before. The LAST time I drove a manual - on the street - was when I (17) borrowed my best friend's Vega in 1980 to get a pack of cigarettes. If I had to drive one today - on the street - I'd be in real trouble! 😬 😬 My son (42) has never driven one. 🙄 🙄
For sure!

Interesting...my son (41) still drives one and has always owned one. Probably helps that he's a tech.
I taught my wife and both our kids how to drive one. I showed them how to change their own oil as well.

My youngest son 37, learned to drive on a manual shift 1990 Vette and has owned his own manual 2016 WRX (2nd one) and occasionally drives my 7 speed 2016 Vette.

Yep, I'm sure that has something to do with it. My son's a doctor; he can barely write his name - I'm not kidding! 🙄 😶
"I taught my wife and both our kids how to drive one. I showed them how to change their own oil as well."
Wow! I have to beg my wife to go for a cruise or a car show - even when I'm in the show. I stopped changing oil when $19.99 oil changes became available - which was 25 years ago now! 😮 😮 I taught my son to drive at age 12 - when he could drive legally, I showed him how to change a flat, and brake jobs. I can't say I "taught" him; it was obvious he had zero interest in either. 😏 😫 😀
"...and occasionally drives my 7 speed 2016 Vette."
"7 speed?" Wow-wee.... it would take me either 10 minutes just to back that thing out of the garage - OR - I would blow up your Tremec unit. Take your pic.. 🙄 🙄
I changed the oil twice in my teens when I realized the few bucks saved was not worth the indignity of crawling beneath a car and putting my safety at risk."I taught my wife and both our kids how to drive one. I showed them how to change their own oil as well."
