"Breakfast With the Beatles" hosted by Chris Carter on Sundays 9AM - Noon PST  👍

Getting old sucks but it sure beats the alternative.

I find that as I age I have a greater love and appreciation for the music I grew up with.

One thing that puzzles me is the love I have for "swing / big band". I was born in '53. That's pretty much after its heyday. When I hear Dorsey or Miller et al I get so energized it's almost like electricity going thru me. Their music is like Manna from Heaven.

I love listening to my local jazz station from Long Beach, CA on Saturday mornings when they play the oldies on "Swing Time".

What about others here ? Anyone into radio ? Any favorites ? Any comments ?

Steve, my taste in music is very diverse. Palestrina, Prima,  Dowop, Jazz, Opera, Blues, Rock, Classical, Rogers and Hammerstein. I get my fix on YouTube and CDs

and a little bit of County.

Steve, like John B., above, I have a love of music that is also diverse.

I'm a product of 'secondary listening'. (Is that a 'thing'?) LOL! I love the old standards that my dad and mom listened to. He was born in 1912 and she in 1914. Perhaps you have learned to like big band through your parents??

My brother and sister were born in 1933 and 1931 respectively and I have enjoyed, through osmosis, I guess, their music as well. My brother could sing the words of every Johnny Mathis song ever made. And my sister played the songs of their era, beautifully, on the piano - and still does today at 93.

Give me anything from DooWop (like John) to Chicago and Journey (my late daughter's favorite band ever) and I can grin all day long.  Smile

I listen to a wide variety of music.  I still carry an Ipod in my car which has over 1700 songs on it.  I listen to just about anything, but I find that I enjoy the music from the late 60's - late 70's to be my favorite.  I work at a radio station, but it is all sports, live talk show.  So when I am driving, I hate to say I am listening to what is on my Ipod.  And when at home, I too listen to my cd's, and Amazon prime, and youtube.

Gents, when the World is looking grim, I resort to something like this for a little pick-me-up.

Like many others in this forum I enjoy select music from the past fifty years but my favorite era is the 1960s and 70s.
