Wow, is that a standard-size Texan donut, or what?

A lady that lived on my mail route, Mrs. Rankin, would start making holiday fruit cakes at the beginning of fall. Mrs. Rankin skipped the fruit and used pecans and a liberal dosing of an "adult comfort" beverage. I was lucky to partake of a good sized slice on New Year's Eve. Yes, it was life changing ! 👍

You may know John; most do not. Collin Street Bakery is world renown for their fruitcake. People make fun of the stuff but theirs is a special treat. When I lived in Joshua, TX., I made the 75 mile trip to Corsicana every Christmas for the cake. OH MY!!

For me it is the famous Claxton Fruit Cake, made in Claxton Ga.  Every year I get a couple of logs of it and fortunately in my family, I am the only one that likes it.  A man could not be so lucky!

@carsman1958, I've had the Claxton as well. It's another legendary fruitcake. Kelly came on board with liking them a few years ago. I was glad....kinda....

Thank-you for your suggestion Tony 👍

I've ✅ out their site and they have a delicious looking Apple Cinnamon Pecan Cake that I'm drooling over. And, no, I'm not willing to share 😋

I always loved fruitcake (even as a kid ) but remember what Carson always said, "There's only one fruit cake; it just gets passed from person to person, season to season... "

@perrone1 Tony; your fruitcake cartoon reminded me of the interesting life parallel to getting through today's world.....sometimes it's just better to be dense.

Ahhh; God bless all of our mothers!  Mine passed away 12 years ago at 98 years, 1 month. Cooked and baked all her life.
