Thanks for the reminder of that Bob. I do remember that.

That's beautiful but I think one of the most beautiful colors I've ever seen one in was at the Seal Beach car show in a metallic turquoise with a beige interior. ❤️ Steve
I think it is a beautiful design and one of he most attractive automobiles of the Sixties. Raymond Lowey and Associates really pulled out all the stops on this Studebaker and Andy Granatelli really give it some muscle, especially given what he needed to work with. I believe he set a record for the fastest American production car at it's introduction with something like 176 mph at Bonneville with an R3 Studebaker V-8.
My Dad had Studebaker as a client and he was at the Chicago Auto Show introduction. It was scheduled, I believe, to be the Indianapolis 500 pace car, but it wasn't ready in time (or it needed to be a convertible) so a V-8 Studebaker Daytona did the honors.
A white Avanti prototype from South Bend was at our house back then and I got to sit in this awesome car, although I was far too young to drive it ! I have a Signature 1/18 diecast model of this spaceship.
@100ford2003 Seal Beach is awesome - it's, IMO, a glimpse into prehistoric times. I expect to see Pterodactylus fly overhead at any moment.
- That's a cool Studebaker color-combo. I thought it was available in 1/18, but I guess I'm mistaken; I can find it only in 1/43.... 🤔 🤔
@moe-parr ...yes, but that doesn't have the parchment (beige ) interior. Was there ever a 1/24 Avanti like that? 🤔 🤔 🤔
