Very nice Thunderbird, John but an even nicer Grand Prix. Either would be welcome in my driveway.

I'm almost surprised that David picked the Pontiac. Like me, he prefers a smaller but good handling vehicle. But this is no ordinary Pontiac; it's the Grand Prix. Formal styling but a heart within that can howl like a beast.

Yep, me too - Pontiac!

Pontiac without a question.  I do like novel design but I can’t get past the thought that the T-bird could float.

The Pontiac. Sophisticated, uncluttered, powerful, elegant.

I see these as two different categories of cars. The Thunderbird is in a completely separate division from Ford devoted to being a personal luxury car. The Grand Prix is part of the Pontiac division devoted to being a performance car. I find it impossible to compare these two as both do what they do quite well in decidedly different roles.

@bob-jackman

I understand the distinctions you posted, but I'd argue they both catered to the same market; sort of a nascent personal luxury market but with a sporty twist.

I'll take the T-Bird, in this pairing.  The Pontiac just looks boxy to me.

Bob i hear you...I see the GP as a blend of both performance and personal luxury with more emphasis on the personal luxury aspect. Even if it were pure performance sometimes I need to color outside the lines to keep things interesting.

And John, you do do a fine job of coloring. As for me I'm choosing the T-Bird. The GP is beautiful too but the T-Bird's interior is awesome to me. Steve

From strictly looks and a styling perspective, my eyes don't see this being even close.

The PONTIAC without question for me.  It is clean looking with nice lines front to back with no curves and indentations.

Pontiac GP styling throughout the '60s was awesome.  The T-Bird styling faded big time after '63.

The Bird for me.  The 64-66 years were a favorite of mine.
