I was sad when Pontiac was discontinued in 2010. We had a 1955 Pontiac 4-door with a V-8 and a big 1971 Grandville, powered by a 4-barrel 455 c.i.d. V-8.

Never owned a Pontiac but it was the only division of GM I liked.  Especially the '57, '61 - '64 and the mid-size GTO '65 - '67 and the '77 & '78 Trans AM and the '92 Richard Petty Edition Grand Prix.

The first car my father bought new was a 64 Tempest, followed by a 68 Tempest which became my first car in 72.

Owned a ‘55 Star Chief in the ‘60’s  and  an ‘84 Firebird which I gave my oldest son. A few months later he totally destroyed it. There was little left that resembled a car; his only injuries were a broken jaw and a couple missing teeth.

I have always been a big Pontiac fan and have owned many over the years.  I just love them.

I learned to drive in my Dad's '69 Bonneville 4-dr. HT, 428 cu. in. V-8, 4-bbl. carb and dual exhausts, rated at 370 HP. Boy did that 4,500 lb. car move!

It was this color, too:

I had a '72 LeMans convertible, gold with a black interior, and a 350. It was an awesome ride.

I also learned to drive on my parents '69 Bonneville 4dr Hardtop. What a great car, and a tank. That car survived 4 teenage drivers. It had well over 200,000 miles when my dad finally retired it and that was mainly because it had rusted out-no floorboards left.

@jcarnutz

I remember a few things about sitting down with my parents and the salesman and ordering that Bonneville. He suggested the dual exhausts (which made the HP 370 instead of the standard 360) because they ordered Air Conditioning, and the extra power would offset that. My 14-year old self also had to promise not to play with them, or they wouldn't order the Power Windows (I kept my promise).

But the funniest part was when the salesman asked "What color were you thinking of?" and my Mom said "That very dark brown". The salesman said "Expresso?" (that was the name of the color) and my Mom said "No thanks", thinking he was offering her a cup of coffee. We laughed about that for years after.
