My Father always spoke highly of his "old Essex". Yes he moved on to Hudson and followed them to AMC.
My father's first car was a 1929 Essex.
Never saw on of these on American Pickers. Bet they'd pay the BIG $ for it. NICE!
Wish the Mints would have made one of these; a 1931 Essex Super Six Boattail Speedabout:
Aviator Amelia Earhart was a spokeswoman and did advertisements of the Essex Terraplane. Unfortunately, she did no more automobile endorsements after July, 1937.

@perrone1 That's a lovely model - very subtle colour contrasting.

I completely agree Charles! The brown and pale yellow is gorgeous but the green accent stripe and wheels push it over the top.
It is the Essex Super Six Boattail Speedabout for 1931. And since we're talking about Essex AND Hudson, here's one of my very favorite Hudson's of all time. A 1947 Hudson Super Six, 171 Series Convertible:
@perrone1 Very nice Hudson! On the face of it, (excusing the pun) it doesn't seem to have changed much from the '42, but they've done such interesting things with the grille, that it looks quite different - and new!
'47. It was a good year. For cars and folks hatched that year. Oh wait; I was one of them. LOL!
@perrone1 I'm reminded of the old term for "better" newspaper's personal columns: Hatches, Matches and Despatches
.
@charles-rockett WOW; yeah, coverage from cradle to grave!
