Poll: Which '54? (11/22/2021)

Tough decision but I'm going with the Sun Valley.

The Mercury Sun Valley  rides well and to me has better styling than the Oldsmobile 88.

How can you pass up the transparent roof?? Sun Valley for me!

Mercury until '56 please. Don't care for the Olds until 1957.

I so love both!  But I love the OLDSMOBILE more!  From 1954 through 1959 Oldsmobile had few rivals in the beauty department.  In order of preference, I rate them like this: 

1) '57 

2) '56 

3) '55 

4) '58 

5) '59 

6) '54 

Back to the Mercury for a moment...the '54, '55, and '56 are outstanding looking, but when up against an Oldsmobile, they fall short.

Ironically, for me it's the "transparent roof" that is the deterrent for me.  I've NEVER been a fan of sun roofs on cars.  

I voted for the Mercury. The proportions of the Olds 88s from this era look "off" to me, the longer wheelbased 98s look so much better to my eye.

gotta go with the Mercury, especially with the redesigned taillights for '54.

Interesting how we all see things differently.  For 1954, 1955, 1956 to my eyes (with the exception of Cadillac for those years), the '54, '55 and '56 Oldsmobile's are most beautifully styled and proportioned cars from all automakers.  

Tough call, but I vote Olds for its surface treatment.

@georgeschire George, I'm, with you on this one.  The Olds just outshines the Mercury.

Oldsmobile - Mercury looks somewhat generic, Oldsmobile more visually appealing and unique, especially the grille.
