Whoa! Excellent comparo John. I didn't realize that two cars I like so much, were so different at the same year of manufacture.
I like the DeSoto a lot but it is in an older era when compared to the Olds. I'm going with the Starfire for its up to date styling and technology.
Yes, but the DeSoto's "Got A Hemi."I like the DeSoto a lot but it is in an older era when compared to the Olds. I'm going with the Starfire for its up to date styling and technology.

Oldsmobile for me too. It just looks newer.
Retired in Dunedin, Florida.
This was closer than I thought as this DeSoto is one of my favorites. The Starfire on the other hand was the beginning of a long line of models using that model designation and style I liked right out of the box. Oldsmobile.
I really like that DeSoto. Great family history and as I remember, a sporty ride compared to the Olds.
Man oh man you sure can pick 'em John! I have gone back and forth on the pluses of each of these cars; for example the more modern styling (interior included) and trim/paint application of the Olds versus the dated but aggressive look of the DeSoto, with its hemi engine and overall trimmer appearance. I ultimately gave the nod to the DeSoto by a hair but it could change by this afternoon.
Tough one! I like both styling ques of both cars. But even a blind man (and hey, I'm almost there), can see that the OLDSMOBILE appears to be a generation ahead of the DeSoto. So, it's OLDSMOBILE for me!

I don't care for either one of them. The Olds does look better, but I prefer the DeSoto's mechanicals. Mechanicals generally are equally important to me.
So I'll call it a tie today.
Tough call...going with the Oldsmobile but loving the DeSoto too.
Gents, thanks for your responses.
