Nope, not AI/CG, but an email from Chevrolet this morning confirms the other articles I have seen recently. The name, "Zora" did not get applied to the car as many had speculated. It is the ZR1 plus an X - for X factor maybe? Who knows, who cares - 1250 HP. (1,064 horsepower from the LT7 5.5L V8 engine plus 186 horsepower from the eAWD (electric drive unit) from the e-Ray Corvette). But wait, there's more - zero to 60 in under 2 seconds. But here's what shakes my martinis - quarter mile times in under 9 seconds. The Vette is now a true hypercar. Take a look at Chevy's official email attachment:
Yes, I received the same e-mail. Too much car for me. I'd end up in jail or dead. I'm more than happy with my C6 Grand Sport, thank you.

...even with all the money on earth, a vehicle such as this is nothing I'd ever want, however, it's awesome to see GM can develop such a beast with blistering performance. What I do love about this one is its "subdued" presence.
It's not overly-clad-dy, with "boy racer" scopes, wings, ground effects, etc... Every line & curve seem purposeful but clean. I suspect GM will effortlessly sell everyone they can make. 😎 😎 😎
Totally agree with both of you. I guess I'm at the age where the three Vettes that I have owned are now enough. I like the comfort of an old man's car with ease of entry and exit and just enough power to do zero-to-town in under 15 minutes!!
@perrone1 Tony you took the words right out of my mouth. I have owned my 61 Vette for 53 years and it was always my go to car when I wanted to go to a show or cruise in. Now because it is hard to get into and out of, I find myself using it less and less in favor of my other cars that are easier for this old man to negotiate.
Thanks, but I will stick with my Hemi Challenger. Plenty of get up and go for me.
Bob, with 436 horsepower and 428 lb-ft of torque it could be a handful but its still manageable.@sizedoesmatter John, your C6 would be more than enough for me to get my kicks.

This is an amazing piece of engineering and for a RELATIVELY good price compared to its competition. However it really has a race track level of performance and very few drivers would be able to handle its performance limits safely on public roads. As a car guy all my life it pains me to say all of this but what is the practical use and enjoyment factor in driving a very high performance car that isn't really suited for public roads? Talk about being tormented by temptation! Wait....OMG...listen to my drivel......I must be getting senile! Lol.
@jack-dodds Ha! It's OK Jack, drivel on! The standard Corvette can be useful. It can be an every day driver, especially if backed up with another car for the household.
But you're correct, this ZR1X has no useful purpose on public roads. It's for the person with plenty extra bucks who just HAS to have the top Corvette model made. When I owned the Z06 we were in a Corvette Club that routinely sponsored performance events that could exercise the cars on racing facilities. Ours used VIR (Virginia International Raceway) for high performance events that were fun and I suspect a ZR1X buyer might be wise to join such a car club.
Performance far beyond my capabilities, entering & exiting far beyond my capabilities, price far beyond my capabilities to afford.
I do wish it had been named Zora. It would be so appropriate to honor his long held dream.
Amazing vehicle though. I'd likely have trouble handling the basic Corvette, but I'd love to try.

I applaud GM for even trying to compete in this area, even more kudos for doing it well. This car is not made for most of us. Indeed, many of them will likely go into private collections and see any practical day-to-day use. But it is a major feather in Chevrolet's cap. And, as with every other Corvette ever made, some of the amazing technology will trickle down into their more plebian offerings. This is why we have SUVs that can out-accelerate and out-handle most muscle cars from back in the day. I can't afford, nor do I need to go 0-60 in under 2 seconds. But something in my car-related heart warms me when I hear of a car that can. I get even warmer when I hear that it's a Corvette.

awesome, but where's the end of this ?
"...but where's the end of this?"
A: As with practically every other automotive innovation, trend, fad, mechanical improvement, software update, or design theme....it will be the consumer who dictates where the "end" will be.
Perhaps, 50-75 years from now 1,200 hp won't be enough, the public might want 2,000 hp. 🤨 🤔 🤨
