Eldorado over Skylark but that Skylark is still stunning!

Both are beautiful but the Cadillac gets the nod. The 53 Skylark is one of my all- time favorite cars and was  built on the Roadmaster chassis while the 54 was built on the Special/Century chassis. In my opinion the 54 was just too gimmicky.

I can see where the Buick seems a little overdone. But I love it regardless. I mean...it was the fifties!! Everything was overdone!!!

Skylark for me. It looks sporty, whereas the Cadillac looks ponderous.

Retired in Dunedin, Florida.

Absolutely no interest in either.

What a statement this red Cadillac makes; it takes the easy win.  I much prefer the '53 Skylark; the "underbite" grille and comparatively overdone tail lights of the '54 detracts.

The back end of the 1954 Skylark speaks to an unhappy extrovert. What happened? Life had been so bright just a year earlier! Whereas the '53 through to '55 Eldorados ar among the loveliest cars of the 1950s.

One Skylark feature I have never had an appreciation for is the very odd contrasting color in the wheel wells.  If I understand it correctly the '54s all were done that way but not all the '53s.....is my impression correct?

@jack-dodds - Jack, best I could tell both the '53 and '54 wheel wells were painted in a contrasting color. Sometimes the contrasting color was black, so it may not have been eye-catching.

Love both, but the Cadillac wins this round.
