I once again like both but today, I fancy a drive in that Mercury Montclair.

Both are very cool but those Headlamps on the Merc make the winning difference for me.

As much of a Pontiac lover as I am I think the Mercury was a much nicer looking car in 1956.  The grille on the Pontiac always seemed a bit chunky compared to the lovely '55.  The '55 and '56 Mercs are beautifully styled cars IMHO....shocking change the next 3 years however.

One of my favorite color combo's on fifties cars!  I really like both of these for '56, but since my Dad owned a '56 Mercury in the same Red & White paint scheme, I have to vote for MERCURY!

1956 Mercury by the proverbial country mile, but in 1957 the Pontiac by the same country mile.

Funny because in '57 I'd still take the "Jet Age" Mercury over the Pontiac, even though I like the Pontiac a lot.  But the MERCURY for '57 stood out and like no other car to that point in the Fifties.  It wasn't a Ford and it wasn't a Lincoln...it was car like no other.

Mercury. I'm not a Pontiac fan until 1957.

Retired in Dunedin, Florida.

For me there's no comparison, the Mercury.

Mercury. I can't believe how they messed up the beautiful 1955 Pontiac.
