No interest in either one. '57 would have bought a Pontiac or if I had more money a Cadillac. The Olds or Chevy are nice in '57 to.
They are both gorgeous Fifties dreamboats and I am very happy to have diecast replicas of each automobile. Beautiful colors, too !
Never like the looks of the Mercury from 57 to 60. Tried to like the Buick, but was unsuccessful. Voted no interest.
Thanks George. I'm thinking the yellow Buick Century convertible pictured here will draw a lot more attention than the red Montclair. Could it be deep down you're an "Attention Ho" like some of us here?John, you really picked two goodies today!
I like both a lot, but if I were given one over the other, the BUICK wins me over for its more sedate and compact look. Yes, compared to the Mercury it's dated looking, but then the Mercury as beautiful as it is, seemed to be "way out there" in comparison.
Being honest, the other reason I would choose the Buick, is that I could drive it without garnering a lot of attention, while the Mercury would bring the stares and attention to me driving it every mile.
I prefer to enjoy my car without the attention (I think) the Mercury would bring my way. I'm not one of those guys that have to "show-off" with the "look what I have" mindset.

Not a chance John. Thing is, all of us get attention, many times when we don't try to or don't want to get it. In this "Which One?" comparison, as with all of them featuring old cars, if we own one, chances are good that we will get attention. My issue is, and I've known people that do this, they buy a car or do things to their car that will GET THEM ATTENTION. I've learned that it can be an ego thing, and they need be noticed, and if having the most outlandish or odd looking car gets them that attention, they are happy. Not sure this explanation makes total sense, but it's the best way I can say it.

Tough call for me as I love both of these head-turners, but I do love the Buick a tiny bit more.
Gents thanks for your responses.
